Paternity DNA test
A DNA paternity test has two possible results:
- Exclusion- the alleged father is not the child's biological father. This result is indicated by a 0% probability of paternity.
- Non-exclusive - the alleged father is not excluded as the biological father of the child. This result is indicated with a probability of paternity of 99.9% or higher. This means that, practically speaking, paternity has been proven with a probability of greater than 99.99%. In the case of a father/child test, the probability is slightly smaller than in the case of a father/mother/child test.
The test results are only available for private and personal purposes only. The results should not simply be included in a lawsuit. If you still want to use this for a lawsuit, please contact us to assess the possibilities.
If necessary, you can have a paternity test performed without the mother. This is known as a motherless paternity test. A motherless test requires additional testing and statistical analysis, but we offer these services at no additional cost.
In addition to the standard test (where 3 mouth swab samples are taken and analysed), you can also choose to take an additional sample from another person (additional children or alleged fathers). The prices for that option are in addition to the standard price.
The standard test is not performed on 16 genetic markers (which most providers of these tests do), but on as many as 25 genetic markers. The higher the number of genetic markers, the greater the reliability of the test result. You can also choose to test at 42 loci. If the possible biological father may be closely related to the father being tested (eg brother), we always recommend performing a 42 loci test.
The test is normally performed with a sample from your buccal mucosa. Unusual samples are also possible, but then the test will take 5 days longer.
